Statement on COVID-19 and Telehealth

This is interim guidance on inquiries received by the Board of Examiners for MFT/CPC licensees relating to COVID-19 and the use of telehealth. The Nevada BOE for MFT/CPC licensure supports out-of-state licensed counselors treating Nevada residents using telehealth during the COVID crisis period per Nevada Emergency Directive 011. The BOE will update this guidance as needed and as additional information becomes available. All licensees and licensed interns utilizing telehealth need to take care to use HIPAA-compliant tools. In addition, they are strongly urged to review best practices information available in the 2015 AAMFT Code of Ethics, Standard VI Technology-Assisted Professional Services and the 2014 ACA Code of Ethics, Section H Distance Counseling, Technology, and Social Media. This statement also includes support for telesupervision.

The Board is maintaining a registry of out-of-state practitioners per Nevada Emergency Directive 011. To be added to this registry, email licenseverification@mftbd.nv.gov with your current license details and verfication that your state license is active and in good standing.
